1st meeting of Criterium organizing committee and municipality

Wednesday, April 25, the first meeting of the Sporter organizing committee and municipality was held. The meeting was dedicated to the preparation and staging of the Chisinau Criterium bicycle race. The representatives of the Urban Electric Transport Department (RTEC) and the Police Department of Chisinau also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, a joint action strategy was developed and tasks were distributed among all departments involved in organizing the sporting event.
In particular, the preparation of the route for the event was discussed, considering the comfort and safety of the athletes, the guests of the event and the ordinary citizens. The municipality is preparing alternative public transport routes, so that the people who do not participate in Chisinau Criterium are not subject to inconvenience due to road closures on the day of the event.

By the end of the meeting, Sporter director Serghei Legheida underlined that Chisinau Criterium aims not only at improving the physical condition of the country's population, but also contributing to the organization of cycling in the city. According to Mr. Legheida, it is necessary to make the use of bikes in the capital for both cyclists and other traffic participants. For this purpose, it was proposed to carry out joint actions.

It’s for the fifth time that the city bike race Criterium brings together cyclists and cycling lovers. By tradition, both professional and amateur athletes can participate in the race.

Participants on MTB bikes or road bikes have two distances to choose from - 30 and 60 km, which must be crossed in 1 hour 25 minutes for 30 km, and in 2 hours 50 minutes for 60 km.

Beginner cyclists will have the chance to participate in VELO FUN – the 15-km race throughout the capital.

This year, the Chisinau Criterium cycling race will be held on May 13, in the Great National Assembly Square. A day before, on May 12, the kids bike race - Kids Criterium, will take place. For more details, please see the site www.criterium.md.
