Distance:
- 400m (3- and 4-wheeled bicycles) children aged 5-7;
- 400m (two-wheeled bicycles) children aged 6-8;
- 800m (two-wheeled bicycles) children aged 9-11;
- 1200m (two-wheeled bicycles) children aged 12-13.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
The bicycle race is held for:
− promoting healthy lifestyle;
− popularizing cycling among youth and adults;
− improving sporting prowess in participants;
− identifying the strongest participants in relevant categories;
− establishing friendly contacts between kids and sports amateurs.
1. GENERAL PROVISIONS:
1.1. The general management of the bicycle race shall be carried out by sporter.md sports organization and mama.md.
1.2. The winners are determined by an electronic timing system and confirmed by the timekeepers.
1.3. The winners are the first three participants in the category of boys and girls, in each age group.
1.4. The competition will take place regardless of the weather.
2. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS AND CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION:
2.1. The competition is open to participants able to pedal, according to age group, on 2-, 3- and 4-wheeled bikes, all types of bicycles.
2.2. The noncompetitive race Kids Velo Fun is open to children aged 3-13, on 2-, 3- and 4-wheeled bikes, rollers, scooters and run bikes, who are able to ride on the selected means.
2.3. This is an amateur competition held in the following categories:
Kids Criterium 400 m:
3- and 4-wheeled bicycles:
● boys aged 5 to 7
● girls aged 5 to 7
two-wheeled bicycles:
● boys aged 6 to 8
● girls aged 6 to 8
Kids Criterium 800 m:
two-wheeled bicycles:
● boys aged 9 to 11
● girls aged 9 to 11
Kids Criterium 1200 m:
two-wheeled bicycles:
● boys aged 12 to 13
● girls aged 12 to 13
2.4. The age of the participants is calculated as at 12.05.2018.
2.5. Competitors are obliged to:
● comply with Rules & Regulations of the race;
● WEAR A HELMET! (PREREQUISITE FOR EVERYONE);
● comply with sporting and moral ethics;
● have a bike in good repair with functioning brakes;
● additional protective equipment is recommended: cycling gloves, glasses, etc.
Parents of the participants are obliged to:
● pay the participation fee;
● have an identity document for oneself and the child;
● have the statement of parental consent, filled in and signed.
2.6. Competitors are not allowed to:
● use sound reading devices during the competition (riding with headphones on is prohibited);
● use outside help during the race and for bike repair;
● change the bicycle during the race (it is permitted to replace spare parts and components, except for the frame);
● use any ways and means which could facilitate the racing (motor-wheel, electric bike etc.);
● change the approved route of the bicycle race;
● obstruct the traffic;
● exchange abuse.
Parents of the participants are not allowed to:
● enter the route of the race;
● help the participants.
2.7. Registration
The participant must undergo pre-start registration in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the competition.
One of the competitor’s parents should present a statement of parental consent (the declaration form is handed out with the participation package).
When undergoing registration, the parent of the participant gives his consent for his child’s participation.
Upon registration, the competitor receives a bib number to be worn on the front side of the t-shirt, so that it is clearly visible to arbiters.
In case the participant is late for the distribution of participation packages, he or she is not allowed to participate in the Criterium bicycle race.
Participation in the race is allowed only if the participant has a bib number.
2.8. PARTICIPATION FEE
Kids Duathlon 2019:
200 MDL (≈10 EURO) – before 10.05.2019,
300 MDL (≈15 EURO) – beginning with 11.05.2019 - 25.05.2019,
3. RACE DISTANCES:
3.1. Kids Criterium 400 m for 3- and 4-wheeled bicycles - children aged 5 to 7
Kids Criterium 400 m for two-wheeled bicycles - children aged 6 to 8
Kids Criterium 800 m for two-wheeled bicycles - children aged 9 to 11
Kids Criterium 1200 m for two-wheeled bicycles - children aged 12 to 13
3.2. Kids Velo Fun 400 m for 2-, 3- and 4-wheeled bikes, rollers, scooters and run bikes – children aged 3 to 13
4. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
4.1. Participants must be dressed in vibrant-colour apparel, wear bib numbers, use their hands for turn signals. Competitors should be careful and respect other traffic participants.
4.2. Bicycles should comply with the technical requirements of the road traffic regulations:
● brakes in operable condition;
● proper tire pressure;
● transmission gear in operable condition, precise gear shift, no squeak;
4.3. Each participant should ride uniformly in a straight line without any sudden movements.
4.4. Participants are not allowed to use phones while riding, unless equipped with a device enabling to talk hands-free.
4.5. If the race leader is one lap ahead of a participant, the participant should not impede the movement of the leader.
4.6. Parents who accompany a participant are not allowed to enter the route of the race.
5. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS:
5.1. In case of defect, one should move from the trackway to a safe distance.
5.2. During the bicycle race, any repairs in the area of the cycling route are PROHIBITED. In the event of a bike defect, the participant should not stand in the way of the column or go against traffic, but is obliged to go off piste to the right side of the column.
5.3. In case of biffs or injuries, the participant should seek medical attention in the ambulance car.
