Rules & Regulations KIDS DUATHLON by Naturalis

Official Regulation regarding the planning and holding of events of the Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova

 

SECTION 1. ORGANIZERS AND OFFICIAL RACE REGULATION 

The race of the Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova, hereinafter referred to as the “Race”, is organized by the Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova and aims to promote triathlon as a mass sport and to support Moldovan triathletes, who participate in international races. Participants are obliged to comply with the terms of this Official Race Regulation (hereinafter referred to as the “Official Regulation”). By taking part in the race, the participants agree to comply with all provisions, terms and conditions of this Regulation and of the applicable laws, also, to sign the Declaration of Liability provided by the Organizers at the moment of registration, as well as on the day of the competition, at the moment of registration confirmation.


1. General Rules:

In triathlon races, as well as in other ”triathlon” disciplines conducted by the sports federation (hereinafter TFRM) accredited in ”triathlon”, a large number of athletes are involved. Racing tactics are part of the interaction between the participants.

Athletes should:

  • Show sports skills throughout the race;

  • Acknowledge and take responsibility for their own safety;

  • Know, understand and follow these Rules, posted on the official website of the TFRM (ftrm.md), and the rules of the International Triathlon Union (ITU), posted on the www.triathlon.org website;

  • Follow the traffic rules and the instructions of the officials;

  • Treat with respect and consideration all the athletes, officials, judges, volunteers and spectators;

  • Avoid abusive language;

  • Notify the judges about the withdrawal from the race. Otherwise, this may lead to temporary suspension from participation in competitions;

  • Participate in competitions without receiving any assistance, except from judges and race staff;

  • Avoid any demonstration of political, religious, racial or sexual propaganda;

  • Not litter or scatter equipment along the distance, except for specially arranged places, such as food and garbage collection zones. All items, used by the athlete during the race, must kept and put back to their place in the transit zone;

  • Not try to gain unfair advantage using vehicles and other objects;

  • Follow the prescribed track;

  • Not use any device that will distract the athlete from being attentive to others.


2.1. Competition Admission 

The admission to the Race and the starter package receipt will take place when the participant personally presents the following documents to the Race Organizers:

  • The original ID;

  • Signed Declaration of Liability;

  • For participants under the age of 18: the original written parents’ consent for race participation.

If there is no ID card, the participant is not allowed to participate, and therefore no BIB number or starter package will be handed out.

By registering for the Race, the athlete accepts the provisions and the rules set forth in this Regulation. Compliance and acceptance of these rules is the basic requirement for participation in the Races. If the rules specified in this Regulation contradict any provisions of other ITU triathlon race rules, priority is given to the rules specified in this Regulation. The main provisions of the Regulation will also be made public at the briefing prior to the Race start.


2.2. Declaration of Liability

All competitors must fill in and sign the Declaration of Personal Liability regarding personal ability of participation in the race, from the  medical point of view.

It is prohibited to take part in races/ competitions for persons who have alcoholic drinks/ drugs or who are under the influence of these substances; persons carrying any kind of weapons, explosives and / or incendiary materials, substances with an irritating or tearing or paralyzing effect, taser or other objects, which can be used for violent actions or disrupting the normal course of the event.

Persons, who violate these provisions, will be expelled by the Organizers from the event area, with the support of law enforcement agencies, if necessary.


3.1. Track Referees, Technical Officials and Jury

The race will be umpired by the team of technical officials from the TFRM and the jury.

The technical officials and the jury consist of at least 20 people; and will operate on the whole event territory and will monitor the track and Regulation compliance of the participants during the Race.

The technical officials will penalize for any noncompliance with this Regulation, by warnings, time penalty, or disqualification, depending on the violation gravity.

If the referee notices an attempt to “take a shortcut” (shortening the path or deviating from the track), the participant responsible for this action will be disqualified.

 

3.2. Jury

The jury will be responsible for all disputed decisions. The Jury composition will be announced at the technical meeting, which will be held prior to the Race start. 


3.3. Rules Violation and Fines

The Race is held in accordance with this Regulation. Official Race judges may assess the level of violations, even if the violation is not indicated, but the judge considered that an advantage was obtained unfairly or a dangerous situation was created during the Race. The exclusion if the participant is the punishment for deliberate or very serious or repeated rules violations or unsportsmanlike conduct. The penalties / warnings are rendered verbally. Each participant is responsible for the awareness and understanding of the above Regulation.


3.4. Submission and Resolution of Contestations

The contestations filed by the participants, will be examined in the jury’s tent, located near the finish area. Also, there will be given forms for contestation submission.

The contestation must be filed personally by the athlete or, in the case of a relay race, by a member of the team, but not later than 30 minutes after the end of the Race, in which they participated. The contestation will be examined by the jury.


4. ADMINISTRATIVE CONDITIONS

4.1. Administrative Conditions (during races)

The organizer of the event, the Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Moldova, is responsible for organizing the event.

Participants who withdraw from the race must inform the track referees of this segment at the start / finish zone about their withdrawal from the race.

In case of injury, the Race Regulation includes medical care provision, which can be received near the start / finish zone.

 

4.2. Exceptional Administrative Conditions

In case of exceptional situations, which impede the safe conduct of an event (for example, extreme meteorological conditions) and cannot be predicted, the event will be delayed or canceled.

If the event is delayed or canceled, the participation fees will not be refunded. In case of cancellation, participants will receive a full starter package.


4.3. General Administrative Conditions

According to the national legislation in force, the Organizers will publicly announce the names of the winners and the prizes, awarded within the Race. The list of winners will be published on the official website within maximum 7 days after the end of the event.

Thus, Organizers commit to protect the confidentiality of the personal data of the Race participants / winners and use them in accordance with this Official Regulation, with Participant’s Declaration of Liability and with the legislation in force of the Republic of Moldova.

The participants are not allowed to litter on the Race area, otherwise risking the penalty of race disqualification. They must use trash bins, placed along the race area, or garbage bags, provided by the organizers at the start / finish area. Near completion of the event, the organizers guarantee the waste removal and placement in specially designated areas.

The organizers reserve the right to make changes in this Regulation before the race start date and commit to inform about the made changes on the official website and at the race venue.


SECTION 4. CRITERIUM KIDS DUATHLON

1. Race Date and Place

The Criterium Kids Duathlon will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019, in the Great National Assembly Square (the race zone and tracks are marked on the official map posted on the website).


2. STRUCTURE OF THE RACE

2.1. Participants and Race Conduct

This race is organized for children involved in duathlon, cycling or running, and whose health condition allows participation in such a race.


Age categories for CRITERIUM KIDS DUATHLON participation:

  • 5-6 years old
  • 7-8 years old
  • 9-10 years old
  • 11-13 years old

Age of participants is determined as for 25 May 2019.

 

2.2. Race Distances

The participants must cover the following distances:

  • Category of 5–6 years: running - 300 m, cycling - 750 m
  • Category of 7–8 years: running - 300 m, cycling - 750 m
  • Category of 9–10 years: running - 600 m, cycling - 1200 m, running - 450 m
  • Category of 11–13 years: running - 1200 m, cycling - 2400 m, running - 750 m


2.3. Race Track

The race track will be protected by a 2-meter fence, warning tape and cones. The organizers will place the track marshals at predetermined points. Marshals are responsible for safe race participation of all competitors, as well as for their compliance to the rules prescribed in this Regulation.

The participants, who do not follow the official track or shorten it in any way (follow a track that provides a competitive advantage), will be disqualified.

2.3.2. Transit Zone

The transit zone entrance and exit will be guarded. The access to the transit zone is allowed only to participants.


EXPLANATION REGARDING THE SECURITY OF THE TRANSIT ZONE:

  • CCTV;

  • The access will be permitted only based on the bike number;

  • The guarding will be provided by security service.

Bike stationing in the transit zone will be carried out according to the official schedule. The transit zone can be accessed only after a certain period of time, for security reasons, with the exception of participants who are in the zone during the race, even if the race start, in which the competitor participates, has not been announced yet. The bike must be placed in the rack, according to the BIB number and race, in which the participant takes part. On the racks there will be installed signs that indicate the range of numbers for each segment, where the competitor can place the bike.


2.3.3. Bike Track

Road traffic will be completely closed on the bike track.

The cycling distance is 600 m.

 

Overtaking

- It is considered that the athlete overtook another athlete when the front wheel of their bike overtook the rear wheel of another competitor’s bike;

- Athletes should ride only on one side of the road to allow overtaking and not block other athletes.

 

2.3.4. Running Track

Road traffic will be completely closed on the running track. The running distance is 600 m.


2.4. Registration

Registration is completed online by filling out the form at www.criterium.md. Places in groups can not be transferred and the prepayment will not be refunded.

Persons under 5 years old are not allowed to register for the Race.

Attention! The number of participants is limited. After reaching the limit of available slots, registration automatically closes. The fill-in forms which do not include all data as well as unpaid registration are considered incomplete and will be canceled.


2.6. Participation Cost

The participation cost is 200 MDL.

Two (2) weeks before the race, the cost rises to 300 MDL.

  

2.7. Equipment and Race Conditions. BIB numbers

The participants will take part in the Race using their own equipment. During the race, participants are advised to wear equipment appropriate to weather conditions.

BIB numbers and temporary chips will be provided by the organizer and will be given to the participants after filling out and signing the Declaration of Liability.

The BIB number will have a rubber band. Each cyclist must place the number on their back and then turn it around on the chest / abdomen during the running segment, so that the number can be visible. The BIB number can not be changed (carved, cut off, stamped) or covered in any way.

The helmet is OBLIGATORY for all participants in the cycling segment.

Triathlon, MTB and cyclocross bikes are allowed. The bikes must be in good working condition with functional brakes on both wheels.

TT bikes, airbars, flat bars, as well as additional wheels are not allowed.

 

2.8. Start and Time Limits

The start time and time limits of each race segment are displayed on the event schedule booklet.

The schedule may be modified, which will be announced in advance.

 

2.9. Arrangement by Place 

In the order of arrival, each participant will be placed according to their category.

The race time of each participant will be calculated based on the timekeeping chips data, which will be recorded until the arrival at the finish line. After crossing the finish line, the chips must be returned. Each age group will have a different rating.


3. ANNOUNCEMENT OF PRIZES AND AWARDS

3.1. Titles and Prizes

The participants of the following categories will be awarded:

  • 5-6 years old:

       1, 2, 3 places for boys

       1, 2, 3 places for girls

 

  • 7-8 years old:

       1, 2, 3 places for boys

       1, 2, 3 places for girls

 

  • 9-10 years old:

       1, 2, 3 places for boys

       1, 2, 3 places for girls

 

  • 11-13 years old:

       1, 2, 3 places for boys

       1, 2, 3 places for girls


The official award ceremony will be held according to the event program posted on the official website.
